NCR Enhances Customer Service for Juan Valdez Cafe Stores

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

An NCR solution is enhancing customer service experience for Juan Valdez Café stores. The Colombian-based chain is replacing its PC-based point-of-sale (POS) terminals with NCR’s POS technology that replaces their previous use of paper-based advertising.

POS technology is being installed in all of Juan Valdez’s Colombian stores in order to create a standard platform for the company.

NCR technology has created a guest-facing screen for Juan Valdez Café Stores so that they can create and communicate new marketing initiatives to their customers.

People walking into Juan Valdez Café Stores like to be served quickly and biometric scanners included in the terminals enable employees of the stores to quickly access functions and deliver quality service to customers.

Partnership with NCR is especially relevant right now, as the Colombian-based chain is currently expanding its footprint in different regions including the U.S., Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and Middle East.

“As we continue to grow, it becomes increasingly important to utilize the most advanced and durable consumer transaction solution we can find,” said Roberto Held, chief financial officer at PROCAFECOL S.A, the parent company of Juan Valdez Café. “NCR strengthens us technologically while providing us with worldwide support, no matter where we expand.”

As per the agreement between the two companies, NCR will initially install 120 POS terminals in Colombia stores. It will then proceed to standardize its franchises and operations out of the country.

Maintenance and support for the corporate owned stores will be provided by NCR Global Services.

“Our technology enables their growth with a higher level of durability and sophistication, including a better ability to quickly align with their other marketing efforts,” said Andy Caraballo, general manager - Caribbean & Latin America, NCR. “Given our global footprint, we were a natural choice for a company seeking to aggressively expand operations.”

Earlier this month, NCR signed a deal to acquire Digital Insight from Thoma Bravo for a consideration of $1,650 million in cash.
