BillSoft Inc. (News - Alert) providing transaction-based taxation solutions announced that the State of Florida Department of revenue has recertified BillSoft for accuracy in assigning addresses to local tax jurisdictions.

 

According to company officials, the recertification became effective after the State of Florida conducted an analysis of BillSoft’s database and found that it was able to meet 95 percent of the requirement in assigning street addresses, address ranges, post office boxes and office boxes to the proper local tax jurisdictions.

BillSoft is able to ensure such high levels of accuracy owing to the EZGeo product that can correctly identify tax jurisdictions for commercial services throughout the United States. EZGeo is capable of providing address scrubbing postal standards – CASS certified – and also can find if an address is in a special tax district or in unincorporated area.

 

Such high levels of accuracy offers financial advantages to communications and cable providers, company officials said. The recertification ensures that whenever EZGeo is used in Florida, providers will get a higher tax collection allowance of 0.75 percent versus 0.25 percent. They are also granted the hold harmless provision of the Communication Services Tax or CST.
