Allot Communications Ltd (News - Alert). today announced the deployment of its Service Gateway Omega by an unnamed global Tier 1 operator.
Company officials said that this customer joins other mobile operators that are already using Allot solutions for gaining network intelligence to optimize subscriber Quality of Experience (QoE), along with creating new, value-added services.
Without disclosing the name of the operator, officials indicated that the newest customer selected Allot SG-Omega for its “superior application identification and advanced subscriber behavior analysis.”
Company official said that the network intelligence is considered to be vital to performing per-application policy provisioning towards optimizing the utilization of network resources and the resulting QoE.
Moreover, the mobile operator also benefits from the platform's proven performance and ability to scale in terms of number of subscribers and bandwidth.
The Service Gateway (News - Alert) approach combines Allot's DPI engine with an array of services into a fully integrated, carrier-class platform. Officials said that within the Service Gateway, the application and subscriber information for each traffic flow is identified by a single DPI process that then dispatches the flow to an array of additional services and actions.
“The increasing adoption of Allot solutions by mobile operators worldwide is a direct outcome of the exploding growth of data bandwidth and services over mobile networks and their emergence as an additional platform to deliver broadband services,” said Rami Hadar (News - Alert), CEO and president at Allot.
He also said that the service gateway, equipped with subscriber management and quota management capabilities, facilitates the shift towards offering tiered and value added services.
Allot is a provider of intelligent IP service optimization solutions. Designed for carriers, service providers and enterprises, Allot solutions apply deep packet inspection (DPI) technology to transform broadband pipes into smart networks.
In June, company announced a joint solution in which Allot DPI devices work in conjunction with Qosmos (News - Alert) Information Extraction appliances to capture business-critical information and implement Quality of Service (QoS) policies in real time, to optimize any VoIP service.
