CallFire Auto Dialer and Cloud Call Center Help Boost California Political Campaigns

By Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor

The general idea about any dialing system is that its most commonly used in the telecom industry, and for those companies focusing on all types of technology.
What many fail to realize, however, is that auto dialing systems are used in many different industries – some of which are surprising to even the most tech professionals – to handle many different tasks that keep operations running effectively and smoothly.

For example, when Santa Barbara, CA (News - Alert), holds elections every year for its various political seats, an auto dialing provider needs to come in and handle all of the thousands of calls to residents and other potential voters.

In one specific scenario, last year’s November Santa Barbara election called for some Get Out the Vote, or “GOTV,” tactics by the Democratic party, to reach out to households in order to persuade and connect with the potential voters.

In addition to door to door, in-person connections, and printed mailings, the Democratic party knew that going above and beyond was the only way to really have their message hit home with the public.

So, in order to achieve results, the company employed California-based open-source VoIP consultancy company CallFire.com to deploy an aggressive phonebanking campaign.

With CallFire’s auto dialing product volunteers on the campaign were able to reach roughly 3,000 self-identified potential voters through a disposition question in an earlier CallFire call.

“The volunteers wanted to make sure voters remembered to turn in their ballots at the drop off station rather than the usual polling booth,” company officials said. “It’s a good thing they did too, because many people still had no idea that there was anything different or new about this election.”

And using CallFire’s systems proved successful for the company.

By the middle of the day before the elections, voter turnout was 37 percent, and with the help of the GOTV efforts, including the final round of CallFire Cloud Call Center campaigns, total turnout rose to 49.5 percent, company officials said.

“Not only were the Democratic Party’s efforts effective, but they managed to do it with less than $30,000,” company officials said. “CallFire’s Cloud Call Center was a significant component of this effective campaign, and the victory was even sweeter when spending 1/23 of the opposition.”
