SANBlaze Technology, Inc., a provider of storage and ATCA solutions for the embedded computing market, has introduced the SB-RTM41x family of Rear Transition Modules (RTM), with a set of core I/O functionality that includes video, USB, RS232, COMM, Ethernet, and SAS (News - Alert) boot controller.
Specific product models provide additional features or I/O connectivity. The SB-RTM410 includes the core I/O, Dual 4Gb Fibre Channel plus one fixed 2.5" SAS, SATA or SSD disk.
The SB-RTM413 includes the core I/O, plus one removable 2.5" SAS, SATA or SSD disk and one additional SFP Ethernet port.
The SB-RTM414 includes the core I/O, plus one fixed 1.8" SATA or SSD disk, and one additional SFP Ethernet port.
Officials with SANBlaze (News - Alert) said that SB-RTM41x models use PCI-express on the zone-3 connector, and are compatible with ATCA hosts blades available from Diversified Technology (DTI) and Oracle (formerly Sun Microsystems (News - Alert)), but can be adapted to other leading ATCA CPU vendors easily.
"We've found many customers are considering ATCA as a build-out alternative to rack mount servers. However, a good percentage weren't quite ready to completely give up the typical KVM functions," said Steve Looby, director of product management at SANBlaze, in a statement.
Looby said that these RTM products enable ATCA to become a more seamless replacement when the deployment requires a KVM style interface and control model.
According to company officials, all RTM product models utilize commodity off-the-shelf, nonproprietary cables.
Standard connectors include a DB-15 Video connector, USB, micro-DB9 serial and two RJ45 pass-through management ports (RS232 and 1 GbE Ethernet).
