Grandstream Releases All-In-One IP PBX Solution for SMBs

By Michael Dinan, TMCnet Editor

A Brookline, Massachusetts-based company that creates next generation IP voice, video and IP-PBX (News - Alert) products for broadband networks announced today that it’s making one of its flagship communication solutions available for small and medium-sized businesses.
Officials from Grandstream Networks say their so-called “GXE502x” appliance – which they describe as an all-in-one voice-video-fax-data solution – combines several company products.
“This product pulls many models of our existing portfolio together into a complete inherent solution for the SMB and offers unprecedented user experience in terms of ease of use and no-brainer integration,” said David Li (News - Alert), Grandstream’s chief executive officer. “The GA (general availability) release is an important milestone in the roadmap of the GXE family and we are committed to providing continuous product enhancements and innovations in the near future.”
Designed to support distributed IP communications, intelligent unified messaging, advanced application integration and popular PBX features, company officials say, GXE502x integrates legacy PSTN trunk and telephone interfaces “for fail-safe hybrid communication.”
Grandstream announced the solution last year, then tested it, company officials say, and have been “hardening the firmware” since.
The GXE502x now operates with a number of SIP trunking service providers, according to Grandstream. Those include Broadvox, Voxitas (News - Alert),, RNK, Excel, Convergia, Metrotel, and BabyTel, according to the company.
It’s receiving positive reviews in the industry.
According to Steve Weltner, director of product development at Excel Telecommunications, an Irving, Texas-based company that leverages SIP trunking to deliver VoIP services to resellers and businesses, the Grandstream solution has proven useful.
“Grandstream’s all-in-one IP PBX is an excellent solution for small business customers,” Weltner said. “By combining Grandstream’s equipment and pricing with Excel’s new IP PBX Replacement Program, implementing a VoIP solution becomes affordable for new and existing businesses.”
Other companies have said they’ve been impressed with the solution’s advanced functionality and features.
“Grandstream is one of the few vendors that offer an end-to-end solution that incorporates video,” said David Byrd (News - Alert), vice president of marketing and product development at Broadvox.
John Dunscomb, president of operations for Emerald Technologies, said the solution has been easier to use and configure than other IP PBX systems.
“Upgrading software couldn’t be more user-friendly,” Dunscomb said. “The bottom line is, this product is the most competitively priced IP PBX with every feature on today’s systems.”
Grandstream officials say they’re offering an upgraded and retroactive 2-year warranty for the GXE502x solution family. The updated list price of the GXE5024 and GXE5028 will be $649 and $869, respectively – figures that reflect the extra warranty and feature enhancements, according to the company.
