IMS is a standards-based IP services infrastructure defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Although designed for 3G wireless networks, IMS recently has been generating interest in the wireline arena as well.
A session titled “IMS — The Catalyst for Fixed / Mobile Convergence,” to be held at IMS EXPO (co-located with Internet Telephony Conference and EXPO West, Oct. 10-13 in San Diego), examines how IMS is bringing together wireless and wireline services in what has been dubbed “fixed-mobile convergence” (FMC).
The session’s presenter, Grant Henderson—VP of Product Marketing at RadiSys—will show how the standards involved in IMS are directly relevant and applicable to next generation wireline and cable/MSP operators.
Henderson’s presentation will also focus on how and why wireline service operators are looking at IMS as a standards-based architecture for delivering next generation IP-based services—opening up unprecedented opportunities to achieve service convergence across traditionally disparate networks.
The session will be held October 11, 2006 from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.
Show attendees interested in learning more about IMS and FMC can visit RadiSys’ booth (#919) at IMS EXPO. Even more information about these topics is available on RadiSys’ TMCnet.com channels, AdvancedTCA and ATCA.
