RCN has announced that former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and current ESPN (News - Alert) “Monday Night Football” analyst Ron Jaworski has signed on to become the spokesman for RCN’s Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley, Pa., markets.

The announcement comes just a couple of weeks after RCN revealed that it will use equipment from Metaswitch Networks to upgrade its entire voice network to provide a broad range of IP telephony applications. 

 

A carrier systems and communications software products and services, Metaswitch was selected for the legacy switch migration and rollout of IP-based services, which will allow RCN (News - Alert) to reduce costs and operational complexity and to provide enhanced products across its customer base, according to both companies.

 

RCN said in a press statement that Metaswitch’s successful track record of managing complex network migrations and the demonstrated competence of its professional services team will help RCN to deliver on its vision to provide cutting edge, converged services.
