MetaSwitch, which offers advanced IP communications platforms and services, recently announced two more customer wins.

According to a company press release, cable operators Wave Broadband and Astound Broadband are now using MetaSwitch's (News - Alert) technology to deliver advanced telephony services to their business customers.

MetaSwitch also reports that customer Bresnan Communications has achieved key milestones by deploying new services using MetaSwitch’s solutions.

Wave Broadband and Astound Broadband, owned by WaveDivision Holdings, LLC, deliver cable, Internet and phone services to a combined 140,000 subscribers in Western Washington State, Oregon and Northern California. Both have deployed MetaSwitch media gateways and server products on their networks.

Specifically, Astound Broadband replaced its legacy Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) switch with MetaSwitch and successfully migrated over 17,000 San Francisco Bay Area subscribers to its new platform. According to the release, Astound will next deploy the MetaSphere application suite, which delivers unified messaging and auto-attendant using a combination of HFC, fiber and copper for the last mile.

"MetaSwitch's robust, flexible solution allows us to support our existing customers while also delivering an ever expanding suite of differentiating new services," explained Steve Friedman, chief operating officer, WaveDivision Holdings, LLC, in the release. "This flexibility was a deciding factor in our decision."
 

Bresnan Communications recently rolled out a hosted PBX (News - Alert) service for its business customers as well. The migration led to the company’s Business Services Division inking a deal with the Montana-based Billings Public Schools Trustee, which serves 15,500 students. Specifically MetaSwitch is providing hosted phone service to all Billings public schools.
