Tejas Networks, a provider of end-to-end optical transport products and solutions, selected Metaswitch's MPLS, GMPLS and IP Routing control plane software to be deployed in its Packet Optical and Carrier Ethernet product families.
Service providers now are transforming their network architecture from circuit to packet to address the exploding demand of packet traffic and lower overall CAPEX and OPEX (News - Alert). New solutions have been built to support the new types of network and they also should provide essential features such as comparable QoS, protection and restoration, and OAM that is available with traditional SONET/SDH and WDM/DWDM transport networks.
The Metaswitch products that Tejas will be deploying are particularly well suited to support both transport technologies (SONET/SDH, Packet Optical, OTN, MPLS-TP) as well as services (IP, Carrier Ethernet, VPNs) as its control plane solutions are delivered via a common set of portable GMPLS, MPLS and IP routing products.
Metaswitch claims that it has vast experience in supplying protocol software products to communications equipment manufacturers, helping them build access, aggregation and transport devices. The solutions selected by Tejas are built upon its MPLS and GMPLS expertise; by offering OTN and MPLS-TP solutions.
Officials with Tejas claimed that they have pioneered in providing innovative end-to-end optical transport solutions with a strong management plane. Now, they are looking to further enhance their offerings with a strong control plane which minimizes their customers’ CAPEX and OPEX. Metaswitch products are ideally suited for those needs.
With Metaswitch, they have a partner that provides a control plane for the latest technologies such as OTN and MPLS-TP, but also a framework that reduces development cost and effort.
"Our relationship with Tejas is a perfect match as there are many similarities between the two companies in technology focus, innovation, and value propositions for the customer," said Clive Partridge, general manager of Metaswitch's Network Technologies Division. "We look forward to continued success with our partnership."
