Ipswitch Messaging Announces Release of IMail Server Version 10

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

Ipswitch (News - Alert) Messaging Division today released its IMail Server Version 10 — the first major update for IMail since 2006.

Tripp Allen, president of Ipswitch Messaging Division, said a host of new features are utilized in IMail Server Version 10 that definitely make the product worth the wait.

“We worked very hard to improve our product,” said Allen. “Most of the problems and bugs that have been associated with previous versions have been fixed, and many new features have been added to Version 10 to make it even smarter.”

Ipswitch has developed its own Digital Rights Management tool to protect licensing and to secure delivery of messaging software. In addition,  new password complexity and suspended accounts from multiple failed logins have also improved security.

New user interfaces for contacts and preferences make Version 10 more user-friendly, the company said. Other ease-of-use features are improved web calendaring and domain forwarding.

“Web Messaging Lite, our new low-bandwidth web client, is our solution for slow internet connections,” said Allen. “It will allow those customers with dial-up or other sluggish connections to access their mailboxes more quickly.”

Another new feature that is available only in Web Messaging Lite is the “check all” preference, which allows users to mark all messages on a current page or in an entire folder.

“Version 10 is the most intuitive product ever developed by the Ipswitch Messaging Team,” said Allen. “For this new version we decided to respond to customer feedback and implement the features they wanted the most.” One such feature is the checkbox display setting. Users can now easily select/delete messages with one click.
