Envision Seeks to Generate Solar Power from Parking Lots

Envision Solar, LLC of San Diego, has developed a means to transform heat-absorbing parking lots into efficient solar power plants, which analysts believe  will revolutionize the renewable energy market.

Conceived by architects Robert Noble, AIA, LEED AP and Bill Adelson, AIA, the Solar Grove design accommodates sites of any size or shape, giving virtually any parking lot an economical solar retrofit option.

Envision is currently going ahead with a string of partnerships to market its product. It recently signed an agreement with Kyocera Solar to assure quality and availability of photovoltaic modules for Solar Groves.

Envision Solar was formed by principals from Tucker Sadler Architects and the contracting firm Midwest General, Inc., following their highly successful collaboration with Kyocera on the original Solar Grove – a 235-kilowatt solar carport installed at Kyocera's North American headquarters in San Diego.

Kyocera Solar Inc. is Envision Solar's exclusive supplier of photovoltaic products for use in solar carport projects.

Analysts believe the relationship with Kyocera brings together solar technology and the turnkey solar energy solution in the most attractive, prefabricated package on the renewable energy market.

The original Solar Grove installed at Kyocera Solar's U.S. corporate headquarters in San Diego exceeded performance projections in its first full year of operation by providing 427,602 kilowatt hours of electricity, saving approximately $50,000 in energy costs.

Kyocera Solar's photovoltaic systems are made of silicone semiconductor devices that harness the energy contained the in sun's radiation and convert it into electricity. These photovoltaic solar energy systems are considered some of the cleanest and ecologically responsible alternative energy solutions available in the world.
