NICE Acquires Security Management Software from Orsus, Expands Portfolio

By Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor

It seems NICE Systems, a provider of advanced solutions for companies to capture, storage, retrieval and analysis of customer interactions for contact centers and enterprises, continues its success streak with an announcement of a new acquisition to further expand the company’s already diverse portfolio of services.

On Monday, NICE signed a definitive agreement to acquire the security management solution assets of Orsus, a leading provider of Security Management Solutions.

Israel Livnat, president of Security Group, NICE Systems (News - Alert), said that adding the solution to NICE’s security products will build an offering that leverages the company’s core competence in capturing, managing and analyzing massive amounts of unstructured data.

“This acquisition follows a successful partnership with Orsus,” Livnat said. “The integrated solution will help our customers overcome the challenge of managing multiple siloed security and safety systems, for better protecting city centers, transportation hubs and critical infrastructure.”

With NICE Systems recently selected by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) for a 2009 Asia Pacific Growth Strategy Leadership Award, the company proved its success in the Asia Pacific region with its SmartCenter suite of business applications for contact center and enterprise customers.

And, the new acquisition only further solidifies the company’s efforts to expand and improve its already sturdy product offerings.

Zeevi Bregman, president and CEO, NICE Systems, said that, after the company’s recent award wins, the company’s security business continues to generate significant growth opportunities, and the company remains further committed to expansion.

“The acquisition of Orsus serves as an important milestone in the execution of our strategy, and will fortify our strategic focus on leveraging NICE’s core competence in capturing, managing and analyzing massive amounts of unstructured data, to accelerate the success of our security and enterprise businesses,” Bregman said.

Under the terms of the agreement, NICE will acquire the security management solution assets of Orsus in an all-cash transaction for a total consideration of $22 million. The transaction is subject to various regulations and conditions and is expected to close towards the end of the fourth quarter 2009.

By integrating Orsus’ security management software, NICE’s security solutions, which have recently been deployed in China and, specifically, Beijing, will enhance the company’s position in the security market and offer more diverse systems for customers.
