Telecommerce service provider CommerceTel earlier this month announced the availability of its Call For Content Service (C4C), which allows mobile phone users to download web pages simply by dialing a phone number.
After placing the call, C4C customers use interactive voice recognition (IVR) or touch-tone dialing interfaces to select, purchase and retrieve mobile content.
C4C provides a bridge allowing major brands and content owners to reach consumers who find texting on cellphone keypads prohibitively difficult. The new service is particularly valuable to users who need real-time information.
CommerceTel offers both toll-free and local phone numbers to its C4C customers. Partner network providers can deliver unlimited on-demand capacity for the processing of C4C requests.
“CommerceTel is targeting carriers, MVNOs, interactive ad agencies and mobile content owners as only with those providers that meet our standards of service availability, capacity and reliability,” said CommerceTel’s CEO, Steve Cherry, in a press release.
Cherry continued: “The ability to offer the Call For Content service to major consumer brands providing on-demand capacity with a high degree of reliability is key to a successful service offering.”
