VoIP: An Optimal Solution for Businesses Fighting the Economy

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

In an effort to cut costs and streamline operations during the economic downturn, many companies are turning to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Although the significant benefits of VoIP have been proven, some companies have yet to make the switch. When citing the reasons for not jumping on the VoIP bandwagon, at the top of the list are fears of implementation costs, quality issues or potential network risks.

These fears are not uncommon, and in fact, research shows that many small and large enterprises are uncertain about the benefits that such technologies can provide.

A recent report by Forrester Research reveals that more than half (55 percent) of North American and European companies claim to be unsure about how their organization can benefit from unified communications, including VoIP.

Overall, companies are familiar with the implementation process and why VoIP is beneficial for the company. But an obvious point is that if they are unable to grasp how it can blend with unified communications platforms to increase performance, ROI and efficiencies, they are less likely to deploy the technology.

It is for these reasons that VoIP suppliers must make educating their customers about the benefits of VoIP and why it makes sense to add this technology to their business.

VoIP Innovations (formerly GlobalPOPs (News - Alert) VoIP), a company providing carrier-class wholesale VoIP origination and termination solutions, strives to teach its customers about the wide ranging advantages of implementing VoIP.

The company employs a dedicated and experienced staff with over 20 years of experience pioneering the early days in the retail ISP and network service industry.

VoIP Innovations quickly expanded its network to world-class status with thousands of POPs and DIDs. By purchasing wholesale access through VoIP Innovations, independent resellers and service providers are able to increase their profit margins and compete with larger service providers.

Since it was first introduced years ago, VoIP has made leaps and bounds in improvements. When VoIP was initially launched, it was considered a risk to deploy and provided low call quality. Today, it delivers an optimal, secure way to lower communication costs, streamline operations and processes and increase mobility.

VoIP is even becoming a mainstream technology on smartphones. Now, consumers can use their mobile devices to participate in online meetings, place affordable international calls, and never miss another opportunity to network, nail that business deal, or just catch up with friends and family members while on-the-go.

In an effort to stay ahead financially, many companies are starting to focus on becoming more mobile this year. With VoIP, businesses are armed against the economic storm as they are able to increase mobility while also reducing telecom and operational costs and increasing productivity.
