Webcasting to Help Restore Faith in Government

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Transparency within government organizations and with elected officials is essential and something that the public is demanding more of to achieve accountability. What once was a time-consuming road block in the bureaucratic process - openness in government is now much more possible with the help of online webcasting services that bring constituents “face-to-face” with their elected officials.

With the advent of webcasting, leaders in both the private and public sectors can utilize the Internet to more effectively:
·        Communicate – share ideas, foster rich interaction between presenters and constituents, and reach target audiences with very specific, tailored messages
·        Market – Market ideas and programs, and communicate key messages
·        Measure public sentiment – gain insight into voter habits and beliefs, and gain a real-time assessment of public opinion on important matters that simply cannot wait
·        Solicit public support – mobilize grassroots action on key issues or initiatives, and encourage public participation in community events and causes

To help drive this new level of government and public interaction and collaboration, Onstream Media offers its Onstream Digital Media Services Platform services to enable government and elected officials to deliver a new level of communication to their customers – the citizens.

Onstream Media solutions allow government officials and organizations to deliver messages in such a way that they are responding to the increasing demand for public access. This platform also enables government officials to interact with voters through real-time debates and community forums to empower the public with the ability to be heard and to have and their views respected.

Government organizations can also use Onstream Media platforms to reduce communication and advertising costs, dramatically improve the delivery of services, notify citizens of volunteer opportunities, and conduct polls and public opinion research which can be key to future initiatives.

Elected government officials are treading on unstable ground as Americans have lost faith in the government’s ability to lead. Those in these leadership positions must take advantage of technologies such as those offered by Onstream to gain back the trust of the American people and lead us into more productive times.
