Speaking with Onstream Media's Scott Farb

Onstream Media, a Florida company specializing in online audio and video corporate communications, is offering organizations of all sizes the ability to increase productivity and revenues.

Founded in 1993, the company has grown along with the increasing usage of the Web, and now offers services for 78 percent of Fortune 100 company executives. These services allow them to broadcast earnings announcements, product launches, corporate communications provide e-learning, appliance training, and more.

Scott Farb, Vice President at Onstream, took some time to chat with TMCnet recently about the company and its offerings.

“In 1999, we did 100 webcasts,” Farb said. “This year, we will do about 10,000 webcasts. Technology is growing. People are getting accustomed to working on-line.”

Farb, who joined the company in 2000, said they currently work with about 2,000 companies and offer audio and video webcasting, Web conferencing, content publishing, and online video and corporate communications.

Some of the work they’ve done includes product launchings, such as one that involved a camera on the front of a rollercoaster.

Webcasting has increased in popularity among organizations because it saves time and helps boost productivity.

Clients today would much rather take part in a webcast than stand in the airport for two hours. Plus, a webcast can be as low as a couple hundred dollars, which is the price of one person flying to a conference, Farb noted.

“We recently did a webcast for a Fortune 500 company in 10 different languages and with 1,000 people from all different locations. The cost of them traveling would have been 20 times more than the webcast, probably more."

Aside from being cost effective, Farb also said webcasting is easy to use, easy to maintain, and accessible anywhere, at anytime, via a Web browser.

Companies can also make use of webcasting to reach a large audience and content can be shared and repurposed.

To ensure communications are being effectively delivered, there are also full reporting features that allow administrators to see who watched the webcast, how long they watched and any interactions they had – for invaluable insight any company looking to stay ahead in today's competitive marketplace.

“The industry is really exciting,” Farb said. “I work 12-14 hours a day and I’m excited to come in to work. I’m able to help companies fulfill their webcasting needs.”
