Web Meeting Feature: Bradon Technologies Offers 'On the Spot' Collaboration with SAViiDesk 5.0

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

Bradon Technologies, aCanadian-based provider of VoIP software, is expanding its Web meeting technology with a new version of its SAViiDesk solution, allowing users to collaborate with anyone, anywhere in real time.

The updated version, SAVii 5.0, lets users start a meeting at a moment’s notice. Colleagues can converse, collaborate and review material in real time whether it’s a video, Excel worksheet, PowerPoint presentation or just the spoken word.  SAVii 5.0 is also the only technology today that offers full audio, video and desktop sharing for Blackberry smartphones and Windows Mobile smartphones.

The company’s SAViiDesk Software-as-a-Solution lets desktop and smartphone users meet and collaborate online using VoIP technology with high quality, synchronized audio, video and desktop sharing functionality.

Unlike WebEx and other conferencing solutions, there’s no need to send an advance meeting invitation. People using the software can schedule a Web meeting in real time on-the-fly, Joseph Compta, CEO of Bradon Technologies, told TMCnet in an interview.

For example, an individual who needs assistance on a Powerpoint presentation can obtain immediate input from colleagues located across the globe. SAVii5.0 shows which colleagues are online and sends out an instant-message requesting their assistance. Those who agree are automatically logged in to the system and able to collaborate immediately.

Bradon Technologies demonstrated SAVii 5.0 at IBM (News - Alert) Lotusphere 2010 in Orlando, Fla. in January.

“The response was overwhelmingly positive,” Compta said. “We anticipate a very successful launch of the middleware when it is released in mid-February.”

SAVii 5.0 isn’t just an enterprise solution. It can be integrated into social media sites, such as Facebook (News - Alert) and LinkedIn. Members can install the SAViiDesk widget as a plug-in allowing them to personally connect with friends and colleagues beyond the traditional e-mail and chatting functions.

According to Compta, SAVii 5.0 could definitely play a huge role in social media moving forward.

A popular YouTube video circulating recently highlights the fact that it took 38 years for radio, 13 years for television and 4 years for the Internet to reach 50 million users, respectively. Facebook managed to add more than 100 million users in nine months. The compelling video asserts that “social media is not a fad but a fundamental shift in the way we communicate.”

“There is an evolution to how people communicate,” Compta said. “First there were smoke signals, then Alexander Graham Bell introduced the telephone. Now there’s the Internet. What we are doing now with VoIP, collaboration and social media software is evolutionary.”
