Web Meetings from Genesys Conferencing Help Drive Green Initiatives
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
To respond to these challenges, Genesys (News - Alert) offers Green Conferencing solutions that can enable a company to facilitate regular team and project meetings; present to customers and prospects; train remote colleagues and customers; and review contracts, budget spreadsheets, project plans or any document or application in real-time.
Such conferencing solutions are designed to improve a company’s carbon footprint and the bottom line. To understand just how much, a Datamonitor online survey of Fujitsu Services employees across EMEA recommended a goal of replacing at least 10 percent of in-person meetings that require travel for more than 30 minutes with a virtual meeting.
When making this change, the impact on the company and the environment is significant. This 10 percent reduction reduces the carbon footprint by the equivalent emissions of a town of 1,000 people each year. More than $10 million dollars is savings can be realized by reduced travel. In addition, employee performance, job satisfaction and work/life balance will improve through enhanced control over meeting arrangements.
In its survey, Datamonitor found that traveling to meetings is detrimental to the environment as well as being inconvenient to the workforce. A Web Meeting can provide an alternative to face-to-face meetings and include unified virtual communication and collaboration sessions such as audio conferencing, Web presentation, application sharing, instant messaging, and video conferencing.
In its research, Datamonitor has found that while some meetings are unavoidable, on many occasions, professionals could accomplish all of their goals for an in-person appointment by conducting meeting virtually through the use of conferencing capabilities.
Web Meetings allow employees to interact using the telephones, Voice IP (VoIP), desktop collaboration tools and video connections. The use of dedicated on-demand conferencing applications also helps to unify several modes of communication that can significantly improve the experience.
