“Web meeting” is the buzzword for businesses in 2011, and essential to business productivity down the line, with video and Web conferencing emerging as the “main technologies” of the decade. The increased use of video and Web conferencing has already escalated the demand for bandwidth in enterprises.

As more workers turn mobile and IT managers look to do more with less, technologies such as unified communications (UC) will only become more popular, according to  Shane O'Neill of Networkworld.com.

Supporting this view, computer firm, Technisource, predicted that increased mobility will be one of the four new trends in IT that will lead to firms using more forms of UC, such as Web meetings.According to O’Neill, bandwidth becomes integral to ensure that firms can continue to use these forms of money-saving technology. O’Neill anticipates that organizations of all sizes will increase bandwidth in 2011 and 2012 to support growing multimedia within the corporate network.O’Neill specifically mentions telepresence, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), distributed storage networks and Web meetings as the main technologies driving the growing bandwidth needs in organizations.

According to Outsourcery, eight out of ten workers were thought to have worked from home in the run-up to Christmas thanks to the advanced UC facilities and Web meeting capabilities provided to them by their employers.
