VideoConferencing + TelePresence Market Research service has been launched by Synergy Research Group. According to the announcement made by Synergy (News - Alert) Research Group, the new service will provide quarterly market share tracking and analysis.

A strong increase in mainstream acceptance of VideoConferencing + TelePresence is shown by the research. The first half of 2010 saw the global market totaling $1.1 billion. As compared to the same period last year, this is an increase of 32 percent. According to the Synergy forecast, by 2011 the market is set to approach $2.5 billion.

In a press release, Jeremy Duke, principal analyst and founder of Synergy Research Group, said, "This market has seen a radical shift with Cisco (News - Alert) acquiring Tandberg. With only two major players in this large and expanding market, we anticipate the market to remain extremely dynamic with new market entrants, partnerships/alliances, and further acquisitions."

According to the Synergy Research, Cisco is the top vendor for WW VideoConferencing + TelePresence for the second quarter of 2010 with a market share of 43.4 percent. The next four vendors are Polycom, Huawei (News - Alert), RADVISION and SONY with market shares of 28.8 percent, 9.1 percent, 3.4 percent and 2.0 percent respectively.

The collaboration space is seeing the stand-alone VideoConferencing market as a fast growing market. The benefits of increased productivity and travel-cost reductions are provided by this market. With the introduction of managed and hosted offers by service providers, the benefits of VideoConferencing will be more accessible as a mainstream application. These services will also be more accessible due to the expansion into the consumer market, with a high definition, immersive video experience.

Amongst the top three regions, the VideoConferencing market is split quite evenly. While APAC has a 34 percent share of the VideoConferencing market, NAM has a 33 percent share and EMEA has a 30 percent share in the market. The strongest year over year growth is being experienced by APAC. This region has posted a 55.4 percent year over year growth. In comparison, EMEA has posted 20.5 percent growth while North America has posted an 8.5 percent growth. Very strong growth in Brazil and Mexico was seen by the VideoConferencing opportunity in the first half of 2010. Due to this the Latin American region posted year over year growth which exceeded 100 percent.
