Market research company Synergy (News - Alert) Research Group, recently announced the publication of their "Q1 2010 Carrier Infrastructure" report including CE, IP and MPLS market shares.
Driven by continued investment in next-generation consumer services, the market has grown by 27 percent, year over year, according to the report findings. The market has also seen growth as a result of service providers reacting to the increased burden of video running on their networks.
The strongest growth experienced was in Latin America, North America, and Emerging Theatres - with year over year gains of 50, 37 and 36 percent respectively.
One of the largest and fastest growth areas also included IP Mobile backhaul according to the report. This market segment posted numbers in the first quarter which exceeded the spending for the entire previous year. Apart from video, Data Center and Managed Servicers were also strong market drivers in 1Q 2010.
Principal Analyst and Founder of Synergy Research Group, Jeremy Duke said, "Most of the Carrier Infrastructure spending we are seeing remains conservative and is a reaction to the explosion of video on IP networks. We believe the market momentum we have measured this quarter is just the tip of the iceberg, when Carriers and Operators begin to monetize their network assets and capabilities we will see an even higher level of growth.'
