SmartRoam, creator of ChatTime, a leading iPhone (News - Alert) app for high quality international calls, announced it is now offering free calls between users, the first such development in the industry offering free mobile international calling available to 1.7 billion people in 53 countries.
The service doesn’t require Wi-Fi or 3G on either end, so it eliminates the dependence on data connections to transmit voice, company officials said. The service enables customers to bridge calls through local networks and carry voice over cellular networks, instead of IP.
"ChatTime delivers the highest voice call quality available for international calls," said Dan Currie, CEO of SmartRoam, in a statement. "ChatTime is offering its customers free calls when they connect with another ChatTime customer, without restricting where calls are made or answered.”
ChatTime makes international calls convenient and crystal clear, offering better services than comparable telecom, calling card and VoIP providers. “Our customers are the only ones who can make free mobile international calls without Wi-Fi or 3G on either end of the call," Currie added.
In addition to this free call service, ChatTime also provides low-cost international calls over cellular networks without the need for Wi-Fi or 3G. The ChatTime app presents the best global solution for free and low-cost international calls.
ChatTime is available in the iPhone App Store. The app is consistently ranked in the Top 10 Apps for the Productivity Grossing category in the U.S. App Store, according to company officials. ChatTime downloads have grown at an average rate of 42 percent month to month since January 2011.
According to Gartner (News - Alert), mobile VoIP calling will not scale for mass-adoption until 4G networks are fully implemented- targeted for 2017. Another related research from Juniper Research has shown that mobile VoIP connected just 2.9 percent of the total international call traffic in 2010.
By bridging calls through local networks and carry voice over cellular networks, ChatTime addresses the concerns of customers for low-cost international calling without IP networks.
Recently SmartRoam announced that ChatTime has been selected as a candidate for Red Herring's (News - Alert) 2011 Top 100 Global award, a prestigious recognition honoring the year's most audacious and far reaching private technology companies and entrepreneurs from across the globe.
