Tektronix (News - Alert), a company that specializes in VoIP test solutions, announced Monday a partnership with Sypris Test & Measurement, Inc. (subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc.), to provide onsite calibration services for products from a variety of vendors. Together, the two companies are now providing calibration support for more than 90 percent of the equipment customers generally use for test and measurement functions.

 

The companies claim this support represents the broadest calibration offering now available from any service provider.

 

What’s the impetus behind the partnership? Tektronix and Sypris said in a joint release that, since many engineering departments use test and measurement equipment from multiple vendors, it makes sense that they would prefer to deal with a single source for calibration services.

 

“Our customers have been telling us that they would like us to offer a single-source, onsite calibration service that would cover all of their facilities anywhere in the country,” said Steve Aleshire, vice president at Tektronix, in a statement. “Our partnership with Sypris combines the technical skills and geographic reach of both companies to meet virtually all of the calibration needs that customers demand.”

 

Having one-stop access to calibration services is especially useful for engineering firms with facilities in multiple locations, because it greatly simplifies operations, improving productivity and cost-effectiveness. The instruments these firms use require periodic calibration to meet certification standards including ISO17025 and ISO9000.

 

By combining their resources, Tektronix and Sypris now are able to provide calibration services for almost 80,0000 model numbers from many different manufacturers. The companies are also collaborating to provide customized calibration services.

 

The viability of this partnership was proven during a pilot program involving hundreds of test and measurement instruments from multiple vendors, at a variety of locations.

 

“Our partnership with Tektronix extends the calibration service offerings we can provide to customers,” said Kathy Smith Boyd, president at Sypris’ test and measurement division, and vice president at Sypris Solutions, in a statement. “Customers will benefit from our combined metrology expertise, breadth of capabilities and product coverage, performance, and geographic reach.”
