Last month in Los Angeles, attendees to Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO witnessed a number of key trends in the communications space, not the least of which is the strong growth of SIP Trunking, which is certainly being buoyed by the current economic crisis.  

 

However, it is also providing a boost of its own to developers of SIP-based communications solutions, which include not only endpoints and PBXs, but testing solutions as well — particularly those that are able to offer cost effective testing, like Touchstone (News - Alert) Technologies.

 

Visitors to Touchstone’s booth at ITEXPO were given a look at why the company’s software-only (another key industry trend) test solution is growing in popularity.  Certainly, the price point is one factor — and Touchstone presents a very compelling offering in that respect.

 

But aside from a price point its competitors will struggle to match, Touchstone also brings a level of testing functionality that most others fall short of with its recently released WinSIP version 3.0. The latest release provides the ability to profile devices and generate XML scripts to simulate those devices. In fact, network operators are able to capture device information in the field and the return to their facilities and simulate those same devices in order to troubleshoot.

 

In addition, Touchstone CEO Mark Stacy explained the company is building an interoperability library that will be made available to customers and will significantly enhance their ability to implement WinSIP in any network environment or configuration.

 

At the end of the day, Stacy explains that, while being a multi-purpose SIP testing solution, is much more than the average VoIP tester. It functions as a high-density load generator, a scriptable feature and function tester, and a complete media testing solution. 

 

For its functionality and innovation, Touchstone was awarded with a Best of Show award for development tools at ITEXPO (News - Alert) for WinSIP 3.0.
