This week Minacom and Sunrise Telecom announced a partnership to provide integrated test solutions for telcos and multiple system operators (MSOs) that offer IP-based voice and video services.
Minacom is a specialist in VoIP quality test automation products. Sunrise Telecom (News - Alert) develops and manufactures test and measurement solutions. The partnership combines Minacom’s DirectQuality R7 test automation platform with Sunrise’s handheld FTTx, DSL and cable test sets.
In a press release, the two companies explained that, “by combining Minacom's centralized test platform to validate VoIP and IPTV (News - Alert) service quality, and Sunrise Telecom’s field experience with portable test instruments, service providers will be able to control tests remotely and review results from field-portable test sets.”
Minacom’s PowerProbe 6000 can be used to test the quality of VoIP, IPTV, Video-on-Demand, and digital media. The probe steams media to Sundrise’s handheld meters, and results are stored centrally on Minacom’s DirectQuality R7 server.
Those results then can be accessed through a Web interface by field technicians and operations personnel.
“Integrating our products offers service providers systemized, end-to-end, triple-play testing that leverages their existing handheld test units, helping them to deliver highly reliable, leading-quality services to their subscribers using a low-footprint, automated test solution," said Michel Nadeau, President and CEO of Minacom, in a statement.
Sunrise Telecom spokesperson Bernard Cadieux added: “This partnership will bring additional value to the tens-of-thousands of Sunrise Telecom handheld test sets already deployed at many Tier-1 telco and cable providers.”
