Tektronix Communications’ GeoProbe, APM (News - Alert) (Advanced Performance Monitoring), Orion and Beamer solutions have been selected by StarHub, Singapore's second largest info-communication company, offering a full and diverse range of information, communications and entertainment services over its advanced fixed, cable, mobile and Internet platforms.
The Tektronix (News - Alert) solutions are part of its Unified Assurance suite of applications for management of next generation converged networks. These solutions address StarHub’s need for a roaming management solution that enables online monitoring and alarm notification of its GSM
and GPRS/3G networks that inter-work with overseas operators’ networks for roaming services.
Tektronix explained that complementing GeoProbe, APM, Orion and Beamer is Tektronix' roaming application, also part of the Unified Assurance suite. The roaming application will enable StarHub to track GPRS/3G
and GSM activity and performance for all subscribers by inbound and outbound roaming partners. StarHub will therefore be able to reduce churn, maximize high value “visitor” revenue streams and improve roaming
partner relationships.
David Storrie, head of StarHub Integrated Network Engineering said in a statement that Tektronix Communications’ Unified Assurance provides a reliable solution that can be easily integrated into their existing StarHub architecture and is scalable to ensure the highest level quality of service
for their customers now and into the future.
Storrie observed that with GeoProbe, StarHub can troubleshoot and analyze problems using a single integrated system. This capability enables them to take proactive and preventive actions to ensure that the GSM and GPRS/3G network performance levels meet their stringent requirements. Also, with the GSM and GPRS/3G roaming management system in place, quality of service can be greatly enhanced. This will lead to greater customer satisfaction and increase of revenue.
Doug Dickerson, vice president, Products, Tektronix Communications said that a full suite of Unified Assurance applications will give StarHub an unequaled ability to manage customer service quality. He emphasized that not only will this ensure happy customers, it will provide StarHub a strong return-on-investment.
Tektronix Communications provides network operators and equipment manufacturers around the world an unparalleled suite of network diagnostics and management solutions for fixed, mobile, IP
and converged multi-service networks.
