Tektronix (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, recently announced that it has signed an agreement with ChinaECNet, an electronics portal in China, to sponsor and help develop five electronics test and measurement courses for the Electronics Engineering & IC Technology Training Program.

 

The Electronics Engineering & IC Technology Training Program is part of the China State Education Project for High-demand IT Talent, and is organized and executed by ChinaECNet.

 

The five new courses selected are High-Speed Serial Data Test and Measurement, Digital RF Test and Measurement, Embedded Systems Test and Measurement, Digital Video Test and Measurement, and TD-SCDMA Network Test and Monitoring. The courses are expected to become available online beginning in spring, 2008.

 

Tektronix informs that the five courses will provide online training for basic principles, technology standards and measurement solutions, and also practical lab assignments to reinforce key skills.

 

Company officials said that lecturers for these courses will be professors from Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University, Communication University of China, and Southeast University.

 

Gou Zhongwen, vice minister at Ministry of Information Industry (MII), noted that to develop China’s technological capabilities towards more independent innovation, it is critical to develop the nation’s engineering talent.

 

He explained that the China State Education Project for High-demand IT Talent is designed to help China's technical engineers to gain access to the latest technologies and know-how, and to develop their skills for the global market.

 

“We are very pleased that an industry leader such as Tektronix is energetically participating in this initiative to assist China,” added Gou in a statement.

 

Indicating that Tektronix has a long history in China of active collaboration with local companies, universities, and standards bodies to develop technology standards and test solutions, Neil Huddlestone, President at Tektronix China, said, “Tektronix is furthering our commitment by partnering with ChinaECNet.”

 

He said that through its partnership with ChinaECNet, Tektronix will offer training courses that will equip China's electronics engineers with up-to-date knowledge and the practical skills they will need to enable innovation in the new digital world.

Weiyang Zhao, CEO at ChinaECNet, believes that by leveraging the considerable technical expertise of Tektronix, the five courses will provide electronics engineers in China an affordable and convenient way to learn from industry experts.

 

Engineers who take the courses will also “acquire the essential skills for solving design challenges in today's rapidly evolving electronics industry,” said Weiyang.

 

All engineers and students who attend and pass these courses will receive the “Training Certificate of China State Education Project for High-demand IT Talent,” issued by the China State Education Project for High-demand IT Talent Office.
