Black Box (News - Alert) Corporation, a communications system integrator, has partnered with Phybridge Inc., a provider of voice over IP solutions, to eliminate network barriers for migrating to IP telephony and unified communications.

Officials with Phybridge (News - Alert) said that its switches are the only data network switches in the world to deliver Ethernet and power over Ethernet over a single pair of telephony grade wire, with 4 times the reach of traditional data switches. One can thus leverage existing, proven-reliable voice infrastructure, creating a separate network path for voice communications.

The Phybridge backbone compliments one’s existing data network with a single point of central convergence, optimizing an organization’s IT infrastructure for a confident migration to IP telephony and unified communications.

Ray Cadena, manager of telecommunication systems at NMSU said that Black Box and Phybridge were able to deliver a simple and cost-effective solution for the campus to migrate to a VoIP telephony solution without additional complexity and reach limitations.
