VoIP Switch - Global Softswitch Market to Grow at a CAGR of Four Percent Until 2015

December 05, 2012

According to a recent market report from Reportstack, the global softswitch or VoIP switch market is expected to grow at a CAGR of four percent from 2011 and until 2015.

Some of the key vendors dominating the softswitch market at this time include Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert), Ericsson, Genband, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., and Sonus Neworks. The report also highlights Nokia Siemens Networks, ZTE Corp., Metaswitch Networks, Dialogic, Cisco Systems Corp., and Italtel (News - Alert) as other key vendors.

The market for VoIP switches is driven by the increasing demand for mobility. According to findings, a key factor contributing to the growth of this space is the reduced risk of vendor lock-in.

The report titled, “Global Softswitch Market 2011-2015,” has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with input from various industry experts. It spans across the Americas, the EMEA, and APAC regions in addition to covering the global softswitch market landscape and its growth prospects in the coming years.

In addition, analyst firm Infonetics Research (News - Alert) has also revealed that although the VoIP switch and IMS market was down four percent sequentially in 3Q12, it is touted as being up eight percent from the year-ago quarter (3Q11). Based on these findings, the firm predicts that 2012 will be highlighted as the first annual growth period in the carrier VoIP and IMS market in over four years.

While Huawei (News - Alert) currently leads in the overall VoIP and IMS market, with around a 25 percent market share, this is primarily due to solid sales across its IMS and NGN VoIP product lines.

The report also found that emerging markets in the Asia Pacific and Latin America contributed to a much greater share of this growth in 3Q12, each posting high single digit sequential growth and strong double digit year-over-year increases.
