Mobile VoIP solutions have become more popular with the recent Skype integration with Facebook and the increased adoption of VoIP apps like Viber.
Recently, analyst firm IDC (News - Alert) revealed that there has been an increasing amount of interest by SMBs in VoIP technologies, with VoIP having established a “solid foothold” in 30 percent of the mid-sized SMBs currently using it.
To further boost the adoption of VoIP on mobile, Procera Networks (News - Alert), an intelligent policy enforcement (IPE) company, has begun offering a wide array of VoIP solutions from Yoigo Mobile.
The company’s Datastream Recognition Definition Language (DRDL) offers broad support for VoIP protocols and applications. Some of the VoIP capabilities within DRDL include the ability to monitor Round Trip Time (RTT), latency, and packet drops that reflect the Quality of Experience for VoIP applications.
The company has launched a new service called VOIP Bono, a mobile VoIP add-on plan to their standard mobile data offerings.
"The growth of voice over IP has the potential to change the mobile operator landscape," said Johan Andsjoe, CEO of Yoigo, in a statement. "VOIP Bono delivers a price leading Voice over IP service that is cheaper than SkypeOut for mobile broadband customers. Procera's Intelligent Policy Enforcement solutions enable Yoigo to stay current on the latest VOIP applications and accelerate Yoigo's new service launches."
The new VoIP solution allows users to access VoIP via phone or other devices using different platforms like Skype (News - Alert), Viber, or any other VoIP application. The service offers about 600 minutes of talk time and 100MB exclusively to VoIP calls.
With PacketLogic Report Studio, operators can easily gather detailed analytics on VoIP usage on mobile networks. This includes popularity of VoIP applications, minutes of usage, the delivered Quality of Experience, and volume of traffic based on location, devices, and time.
"Personalized Services built around specific, valued applications like Mobile VOIP packages enable operators to differentiate their service offerings for consumers and business customers," Paul Gracie, vice president of Sales for EMEA for Procera added. "Yoigo continues to find new use cases that enhance their profitability from the Procera solution, and we are pleased to be a contributor to their success."
