Velocity VoIP, LLC., a U.S. provider of hosted VoIP telecom infrastructure, has selected PortaOne's PortaSwitch Procinctus as its core convergent VoIP billing software.

Thanks to PortaSwitch Procinctus, which now in Maintenance Release 23 (MR23), Velocity would now be able to offer its Internet Telephony (News - Alert) Service Provider (ITSP) customers the ultimate combination of all available IP telephony services.

Officials with PortaOne said that PortaSwitch Procinctus allows carriers and service providers to unify voice, data, fax content, SMS and Internet traffic within a single converged network.

Company officials claimed that the platform is the highest combination of all available PortaOne (News - Alert) products and technologies, built around a converged VoIP billing software platform.

"The VoIP marketplace remains highly competitive because of ever-changing technologies, and our company adapts to market changes very quickly," said Jason Silverman, director of sales at Velocity, in a statement.

Silverman said that PortaOne's PortaSwitch Procinctus allows Velocity to clearly provide optimum value to the company’s wholesale customers and top quality to their end users.

"The pace of change in the VoIP services marketplace continues to accelerate," noted said Andriy Zhylenko (News - Alert), chief technical officer for PortaOne.

Zhylenko said that PortaSwitch Procinctus gives infrastructure providers like Velocity—as well as Velocity's reseller base—the ability to stay one step ahead of the competition with the most flexible platform of its kind in the industry.

Based in Canada, PortaOne is a global vendor and developer of carrier grade software for modern telecommunication service providers.

TMCnet in April 2010 reported that Redworks, a diversified telephony, Internet and data services provider based in the Netherlands has selected PortaOne's PortaSwitch as its main telecommunications services and subscriber management platform.

Under the agreement between the two companies, PortaSwitch will be powering Redworks' integrated VoIP and hosted IP PBX (News - Alert) services for small to medium businesses, or "SMBs," as well as their IP payment solutions for retail businesses.
