China Mobile, one of the world’s largest operators, has selected Empirix’s Hammer for IMS solution to provide large scale end-user simulation to verify the performance and functionality of the company’s voice, video and data applications before going live.
With approximately 550 million mobile customers, China Mobile is one of the largest operators in the world and the number one operator in China.
Officials with Empirix (News - Alert) said that as part of its strategy to be a full service provider with “Mobile + IP + IMS,” China Mobile is deploying a large scale IMS network in 27 major provinces throughout the country.
Empirix has been working with China Mobile (News - Alert) for several months to provide on-site system verification to ensure the network and applications could scale to meet the needs of the end-users.
The Empirix solution offers the flexibility to emulate millions of subscribers utilizing the voice, video and data applications on China Mobile’s IMS network.
Officials with China Mobile noted that they looked at a number of different solutions, but only the Empirix solution could meet the breadth of both the feature and performance testing requirements.
Moreover, Empirix offered an unmatched, deep experience in the IMS market, as well as exceptional professional service, which were essential in helping China Mobile qualify its infrastructure vendors.
Company officials said that the Hammer for IMS solution consists of the Hammer G5 multi-media IP network test platform and the Hammer DEX advanced device emulation system.
With Hammer G5, organizations can deliver load performance and service quality assurance for VoIP, NGN, IMS, IP telephony and unified communications applications throughout the technology lifecycle.
Hammer DEX provides the ability to emulate a wide variety of different network devices and IMS functions to truly test a particular network component in isolation, under real network conditions.
“By becoming the quality assurance vendor of choice for China Mobile, Empirix reinforces its position as a leader in ensuring the performance of IMS networks, as well as new IP telephony and unified communications environments,” said Jeff Weil, general manager, enterprise solutions at Empirix.
Weil also said that the company is excited to partner with one of the world’s largest operators to help them continue to ensure their customers receive only the highest quality of service from their networks.
