Sangoma Announces Availability of B601 Hybrid Telephony Card

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

In a bid to meet the needs of PBX (News - Alert) vendors offering digital (PRI) and analog (FXO/FXS) interfaces, Toronto, Canada-based VoIP gateways provider Sangoma today announced the general availability of its B601 hybrid telephony card.

According to officials with Sangoma, the B601 is the second offering in a series of hybrid telephony cards and is a single, compact card that fits in small server-based platforms.

The company offers telephony cards that are compatible with a number of open source telephony projects as well as proprietary SIP-based applications to help software-based communication applications run more efficiently and cost-effectively.

“We continue to introduce products that reduce the costs of deploying these applications, but without compromising on voice quality and the solid engineering design that lead to robust implementations,” said Frederic Dickey, director of product management at Sangoma.

RockBochs, a provider of PBX appliances, used the new hybrid card to reduce the cost of their software PBX systems by nearly 25 percent.

Chad Behling, RockBochs CEO, said that with the B601, the company no longer needed to purchase multiple boards – allowing their servers to use less expansion slots and physical space - cutting down costs.

“Single boards are also much simpler to install, manage and support. We can use this card to deliver a compact, cost-effective server preconfigured with trixbox, Elastix, FreePBX or other types of Asterisk (News - Alert) distributions,” Behling said.

Sangoma is participating at AstriCon 2009 this week and is showcasing the B601 hybrid cards in Booth #212.
