As a result of Brooktrout (News - Alert) Technology and Excel Switching, Cantata Technology is taking a giant leap forward in the fax market. The marriage of the two companies led to an increased production in fax boards for Cantata, thus resulting in a 70 percent worldwide fax market share.

 

According to Davidson Consulting, Cantata also experienced gains in the European and Asian markets as cited in a report titled “Computer-Based Fax Markets 2005-2010.”

 

Peter Davidson, president of David Consulting said in a recent statement “Once again, Cantata Technology (News - Alert) is the absolute leader, increasing its market share lead in units in 2005 to 70.1 percent compared to 18.2 percent for the next closest competitor.”

 

In the fax over Internet protocol (FoIP) market, Cantata offers solutions that save costs by integrating fax servers with an already-existing VoIP network. Cantata offers Brooktrout fax technology that supports corporate networks in transition from TDM, to hybrid, to VoIP networks. The Brooktrout-brand fax products are approved for use in over 40 countries.

The research report also found an increase of adoption of multi-function peripherals (MFPs) and fax over IP (FoIP) technology which will also impact the growth of the fax server market.
