Ikanos (News - Alert) Communications, a provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products, stated that its Fusiv Vx575 multi-mode gateway processor will hereon power Comtrend’s next-generation LTE (News - Alert) home gateway platform.
By acquiring its first LTE gateway design win, Ikanos is said to have taken its processors beyond the DSL market and into the expanding wireless market that is experiencing one of the highest compounded annual growth rates among networking technologies.
Said to be the first ever residential gateway in the industry to support Category 7 LTE data rates with speeds ranging up to 400 Mbps, the Comtrend (News - Alert) LTE home gateway will feature ten high-performance and low-power Fusiv co-processor engines with each CPU capable of offering 1.2 GHz of processing power.

According to Ikanos, Fusiv Vx575 product family are a high performance and highly integrated series of communications processors that provide up to 13 GHz overall processing power. They enable easy integration with WAN and LAN networking technologies and are stated to be specifically designed for LTE gateways, residential home Ethernet gateways, SoHo/SME gateways, and more.
