It is no secret that communications service providers are constantly looking to automate various processes to achieve two very important goals simultaneously, e.g., increase operational excellence while reducing costs and enabling their people to focus on more critical things. 

With this in mind, Patton Electronics, VoIP router and gateway solutions provider, in conjunction with  Patton (News - Alert)-Inalp Networks AG and in partnership with German network-management software developer Axiros , has announced Patton Element Management System (Patton EMS or PEMS) for the company’s SmartNode™ VoIP Media Gateways and other VoIP Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).  It goes to the heart of the realities that you can’t assure performance of capabilities you do not have optimized visibility and management control over.

The Patton EMS solution provides touch-less configuration and turn-up for SmartNode and third-party VoIP CPE, employing Automatic Configuration Server (ACS (News - Alert)) functionality as specified by the carrier standard TR069.

PEMS is a centralized fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security (FCAPS) management tool that offers telecom network operators easier installation and provisioning of SmartNode and third-party VoIP CPE.  It is designed to integrate smoothly with existing carrier network-management tools, processes and workflows.

Patton understands that ease and the timeliness of installation are critical.  In this regard, as part of the new offer, it is bundling five days of on-site installation and customization support with each element management system purchased. It is also providing a free on-demand webinar for service providers seeking more details about the PEMS.

The news comes at the end of a noteworthy few weeks for Patton.  The company just a few days ago appointed Young, Kontel and Interbit as new distributors in Hungary, Poland, Cyprus & Greece is expected to further stimulate “Tech Hub” growth in the CEE region. It also recently publicized that BroadSoft (News - Alert) has verified Patton’s SmartNode VoIP CPE for interoperability with BroadWorks® Device Management, offering carrier-providers added incentives to choose reliable, US-manufactured SmartNode™ VoIP CPE to deliver BroadSoft-based services.
