The explosive growth of wireless-enabled mobile devices has raised the expectations of consumers everywhere for Internet access. Realizing this, ZyXEL Communications (News - Alert) recently unveiled its new all-in-one, high capacity Internet access service gateway, the UAG4100.

With built-in wireless Hotspot and WLAN controller, the UAG4100 offers hospitality venues, big and small, a feature-rich Internet provisioning and management device, which allows them to offer their customers fast and secure Internet access.

WLAN controller helps facilitate easy deployment and management of up to 8 APs. It offers a range of sophisticated features like automatic configuration of APs when connected to the UAG4100, wireless coverage optimizer, load-balancing and automatic channel selection.

Officials said that the high capacity gateway supports up to 300 users simultaneously. It boasts of a dual-radio and also supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with automatic load balancing between the two radios.

In a press statement, Steven Joe (News - Alert), Executive Vice President, Channel Business, ZyXEL Americas, said: "ZyXEL's latest all-in-one service gateway and Wi-Fi Hotspot solution is designed to address this demand by helping hospitality venue owners offer the best Internet experience to their customers with minimal effort and maximum control."

The service gateway features embedded billing functions with a customizable user access profile for tighter access control and to prevent service abuse.  

Web portal authentication, user-agreement login and RADIUS server authentication are also provided by the UAG4100.

Additionally, the service gateway also has the ability to send text messages with access information for user convenience. It further maintains detail records of customer usage for billing and compliance.

Earlier in August, TMCnet revealed that ZyXEL Communications has introduced a new series of Layer 2 10G and gigabit managed switches for data center and mission critical Power over Ethernet applications.
