In an effort to highlight the Obama Administration’s efforts to promote American exports and expand opportunities for U.S. workers and businesses, Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew will be visiting Patton (News - Alert) Electronics Company on Thursday, November 7. Indeed, the Gaithersburg, Maryland, seems an ideal choice for this purpose as it is a family-owned business and major exporter of telecommunications equipment.
A participant in the Export-Import Bank’s Working Capital Lender Loan Guarantee program since 2000, Patton exports network access and connectivity products to over 120 countries around the world. Two such countries are Poland and Turkey, where Patton recently opened new offices with the aim of developing its presence in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. Overall, Patton says that sales to international customers make up more than 70 percent of its business.
As for its Gaithersburg home offices, the company currently employs close to 100 workers in areas including manufacturing, engineering and marketing.
In October, Patton entered into a long-term, global partnership agreement with IP phone manufacturer Yealink (News - Alert). The partnership resulted in a cost-effective, bundled, plug-and-play telephony solution meant for the enterprise sector that was released through U.S. distribution partner 888VoIP. This solution includes Patton’s SmartNode Branch eXchange (SNBX), a PBX appliance that comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 and the 3CX Phone (News - Alert) System.
As for Patton’s visit from Secretary Lew, it is expected to commence at 10:00 a.m. EDT and will go on for as long as it takes Secretary Lew to tour the company’s offices.
Incorporated in 1984, Patton Electronics Company has built a wide variety of communications solutions and carrier-grade telecom gear. However, the company’s specialty is interconnecting legacy TDM and serial systems with newer IP-based voice, data and multimedia technologies. Indeed, its SmartNode 4670 VoIP IAD with ADSL interface received TMC’s (News - Alert) 2012 Internet Telephony Product of the Year back in January.
