The ULE Alliance is stated to promote the worldwide allocation and market adoption of the ULE (ultra low energy) technology, the simplest and cheapest technology solution that is used for enterprise and home automation, security and climate control.
Lantiq has a broad portfolio of highly integrated, flexible end-to-end semiconductor solutions for next-generation networks and the digital home. It has hence decided to join the ULE Alliance to advocate the use of ULE solutions for the connected home.
“Having semiconductor companies like Lantiq in our alliance, adds a lot of value to our standardizing efforts and paves the way for market maturity of DECT (News - Alert) ULE, “said Rene Kohlmann, chairman of board of the ULE Alliance, while welcoming Lantiq as a member of the ULE Alliance.
Both, Lantiq and the ULE Alliance believe that DECT ULE is the best choice for home automation, as it has parallel support for voice and SMS communication. Lantiq (News - Alert) will showcase ULE home automation solutions together with the ULE Alliance at the European Utility Week in Amsterdam on October 15 – 17.
Lantiq is contributing to developing the standardization work for DECT and ULE. DECT, according to Wikipedia, is a digital communication standard, which is primarily used for creating cordless phone systems, and CAT-iq technology supports new and exciting products for wireless home communication and infotainment.
"Lantiq has comprehensive expertise in DECT/Cat-iq and we actively contribute to standardizing bodies and the DECT Forum. Now it's the next logical step for us to further leverage the unique features and advantages of the Lantiq DECT/Cat-iq technology into ultra-low energy and highly optimized semiconductor solutions for home automation – with the Broadband Gateway (News - Alert) as the central information hub," noted Kohlmann.
With the integration of DECT ULE into the Gateway, Lantiq’s semiconductor solutions for metering / home control, alarm functions and more, will be fit for mass market deployment.
“We believe providing standardized chipsets for Home Automation devices by our semiconductor partners will further push market introduction of ULE devices for the automated homes," added Kohlmann.
Lantiq cordless telephony solutions are regarded as the perfect match for offering energy efficient and reliable chipsets, enabling future proof home automation scenarios, and as a member of the ULE Alliance it hopes to enable customers benefit from its standardized and interoperable solutions for the connected home.
