Globally the cloud computing market is expected to grow from $40.7 billion in 2011 to $241 billion in 2020. High performance multi-function solutions in compact hardware and virtual appliance form factors are required to reduce data center equipment sprawl, cost and complexity.
To address these requirements, A10 Networks, a provider of networking and security solutions, announced the launch of its new A10 Thunder Series platforms that integrate with existing ADCs, Server Load Balancers and security features to deliver layered defense solutions to fight against today’s Web and application-based attacks.
A10 Thunder Series platforms deliver innovations in hardware and software to make cloud applications faster, more flexible and more secure with intelligent services convergence.
The solution is built on A10's scalable and flexible Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS) architecture and includes features such as Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT), IPv6 Migration, DNS Application Firewall, Web Application Firewall (WAF), SSL Intercept, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, Application Access Management (AAM), and more.
As part of this announcement A10 Networks also highlighted that AX Series Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs) are officially supported by NEC (News - Alert) Corporation's MasterScope Virtual DataCenter Automation. A10's AX Series is the first third-party ADC supported by MasterScope Virtual DataCenter Automation.
"A10 Thunder Series continues our innovation by leveraging ACOS for the industry's most scalable Cloud services in the most compact and flexible platforms," said Lee Chen (News - Alert), founder and CEO for A10 Networks, in a statement.
"A10 Thunder delivers a competitive advantage for customers with advanced service modules designed to run in a single platform that would previously require multiple vendor solutions and licenses," Chen added.
A10 Thunder Series platforms, which provide Unified Application Service Gateway (News - Alert) (UASG) functionality, are available without license fees. It includes three high end (UASG) models, suitable for the most demanding carrier, Web Giant and enterprise applications. It will also support multi-vendor datacenter consolidation requirements.
The new A10 Thunder 6430 and 6430S delivers 5.3 million Layer 4 connections per second and application throughput of 150 Gbps in a 1 RU appliance. The company believes it delivers the highest performance per RU of any ADC (News - Alert) vendor. The solution features two Intel Xeon eight-core processors and four 40-Gigabit ports (QSFP+).
Other important features of this energy-efficient solution include dual redundant 80 Plus (News - Alert) "Platinum" efficiency (best-in-class) power supplies, hot-swap smart fans, tamper detection, lights-out management (LOM/IPMI), L2/3 networking ASIC and two Flexible Traffic ASIC (FTA-3) processors. Maximum power consumption is only 550 Watts.
A10 Thunder 6430, 6430S and 5430S's delivers optimal performance, maximum uptime, green networking and vThunder Virtual UASG, the company said. It also delivers high-speed hardware multi-tenancy with large-scale Virtualization, with support for up to 1024 Application Delivery Partitions (ADPs) on a single platform.
