Latest VoIP Gateway Solution Does the Work of Three CPE Devices
By Juliana Kenny, TMCnet Managing Editor
Patton (News - Alert) always seems to be expanding and enlarging its family of VoIP gateway products in some way, and the latest addition to its SmartNode VoIP family is a product that lowers provisioning and maintenance costs for carrier-providers by doing the work of three customer-premise-equipment devices.
The SmartNode 4670 BRI/FXS/FXO VoIP Integrated Access Device with built-in G.SHDSL broadband access from Patton is expected to start shipping this May. Combining ISDN VoIP gateway, analog VoIP gateway, and G.SHDSL router functions, the SN4670 is a result of the joint work of Patton Electronics and Patton-Inalp Networks AG.
Broadband providers can now offer business-quality IP-based voice, fax, and data services for up to 8 BRIs and FXS/FXO lines by provisioning the SN4670 on customers’ sites. These offerings are also bundled with high-speed Internet access over 4-wires G.SHDSL.
Further upgrades regarding WAN options, including fiber, EFM, and ADSL are planned for later on this year from the product-makers.
The SmartNode 4670 benefits small- to medium-sized businesses in particular as its “small-footprint” technology facilitates unified communications by IP-enabling digital ISDN-PBX (News - Alert) systems and analog phone, fax, answering machine, and audio intercom systems.
Patton has been actively addressing the difficulties of the SMB when it comes to PSTN interface combinations and port-count requirements, especially in Europe. Having shipped over 100,000 SmartNode devices to date, Patton’s global reach extends to about 142 countries, with 105 of those countries as the recipients of the SmartNode VoIP installations.
A special discount happening through April 30 enables direct-buying channel partners to receive up to 20 percent off on the SN4670 if pre-ordered.
