Clarus Systems Enhances IP Telephony Testing Performance

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

IP telephony services are driving the adoption of unified communications in enterprises. The market is highly competitive with leading vendors like Cisco (News - Alert) and Avaya battling for improving their market share.

According to Infonetics' (News - Alert) '1Q10 Enterprise Unified Communication, VoIP, and TDM Equipment forecast report,' the Unified Communications market, led by Cisco and Avaya (News - Alert), is expected to resume growth in 2010

Clarus Systems, a provider of integrated Voice over IP or 'VoIP' management software and services for Cisco Unified Communications (News - Alert), announced it has enhanced the automated testing capabilities of its flagship product ClarusIPC Plus+.

The enhancement is part of the company's strategy to rake in from the prospective IP telephony deployments.

The two key differentiators of this release include the tighter integration with network management systems such as HP Network Node Manager and configuration management capabilities, company officials said.

Gurmeet S. Lamba, senior vice president, Product Development, Clarus Systems, confirmed that industry trends such as larger IP telephony deployments, centralized call processing servers supporting larger number of branch offices, and these services combined with more upgrades and migrations to get to the newest software releases are driving the need for even more stringent testing within smaller timeframes.

The transfiguration of ClarusIPC Plus+ has been authenticated by the rapid adoption and deployment by Fortune 100 Enterprise customers in commerce-influencing verticals including financial, healthcare, energy, government and education, the company claims.

ClarusIPC Plus+ maximizes Cisco Unified Communications performance and availability through automated testing, performance monitoring, configuration management and business intelligence reporting.

The new improvements allow the most requested and relevant tests such as Direct Inward Dialing, Call Permissions, Forward to Voice Mail, Conferencing and more to completely validate whether a branch office or headquarters location is ready for business, ensuring availability of communication services to the end user.

ClarusIPC Plus+ leverages new algorithms to boost the performance of its test engine. These improvements allow customers to do more testing faster during new deployments, upgrades, or continuous regression testing.

This upgrade coincides with Cisco Live because ClarusIPC Plus+ tests and monitors the largest Cisco VoIP deployments in the world, Brendan Reidy (News - Alert), CEO, Clarus Systems, said.

'In keeping with the theme of integration, Clarus System will continue to combine its key voice management features in one integrated package,' Reidy added. 'Our feedback from enterprise IT teams consistently resonates how they value an all-in-one package versus the costs and inefficiency of using one tool for monitoring, another for reporting and a third for testing.'

This new version extends the company's integrated pillar approach to empowering Unified Communications by offering system validation through troubleshooting and diagnostics, business intelligence for detailed reporting and analytics, performance management for passive monitoring of key performance indicators and now configuration management, the company said.
