Hoteliers sure have - "the unique capabilities of the UniPhyer enables hoteliers to use the existing voice infrastructure to extend Ethernet ,maintaining their current phone system or allowing simple migration to IP telephony with fast Ethernet at the same time," according to Phybridge officials.

Deployment is "low cost, quick and easy," they say, with "no disruptions, and can be deployed quicker than you can change the linen in a room."

Well, maybe quicker than you can change the linen in a room. We're not sure how long it would take us.

Phybridge officials say their mission is to "bring practical innovations to market that provides customers and partners an easier way to deploy and manage their VoIP installs resulting in reduced total cost of ownership and enhanced return on investment."

The UniPhyer is described by Phybridge officials as enabling businesses to deploy IP telephony "with no network or business disruptions." They say the application is proven and validated by Avaya (News - Alert) Labs "to interoperate with the Avaya Communications Server 1000 and the Avaya Business Communications Manager 50, designed for the SMB market."

Phybridge is a member of the Avaya DevConnect (News - Alert) program, an initiative to develop, market and sell third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology.

As a Gold member of the program, company officials say, Phybridge is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab where "a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant."
