Rel Comm Uses Phybridge UniPhyer to Win Healthcare Application

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Ontario-based Phybridgeoffers a VoIP enabler solution to make it easier for businesses to run IP telephony and make the switch to VoIP by using power over Ethernet and removing the need to have an optimized converged network.

The UniPhyer not only makes it possible for businesses to gracefully migrate to VoIP and network convergence quickly, easily and at a fraction of the cost of traditional deployment, but it also eliminates the challenges and barriers for partners and customers.

Joe Marasco, sales director at Rel Comm Inc., a 24 year old voice and data solutions provider with offices in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse, N.Y., as well as a branch in Raleigh, N.C., told TMCnet during a recent podcast session that they utilized Phybridge's (News - Alert)UniPhyer to help win over a healthcare opportunity by removing barriers and achieving a successful VoIP environment.

According to Marasco, the healthcare application was a large customer dealing in senior living communities.

Specifically, the customer had two different properties - one with an aged Mitel system and one with a very aged Nortel (News - Alert)system, and wanted an MPLS network to link the two, centralize the voicemail system and centralize the calling patterns.

Marasco noted that while the customer reached a point where their budget didn't allow them to do any new cabling, Phybridge's UniPhyer helped offset the cost of any possible cabling and PoE switches that were required.

'During this process, which was one of our first properties,' Marasco said, 'We did have a small glitch and I was most impressed by the response time of the Phybridge technical personnel.'

'While we're not located too far from each other, it is over the boarder and about a 3 hour drive.'

According to Marasco, Phybridge had a technician at their door within 4 hours.

'That to me, is one of the most impressive service aspects I've ever been involved with,' Marasco said.

The technicians worked along side the team and came up with a solution for the software and cable issue and, Marasco noted, 'it's been installed about 8 months now and we haven't had any problems.'

'They're a very happy customer.'

Marasco also noted the customer is so happy, they're now moving onto a second phase later this year to deploy the balance of phone conversions for the main location - which includes the replacement of another 70 phones.
