Ontario-based Phybridge (News - Alert) is making it a lot easier for businesses to run IP telephony and make the switch to VoIP thanks to the “UniPhyer.”

 

The company’s solution is a VoIP enabler that allows businesses to run IP telephony using power over Ethernet and removing the need to have an optimized converged network.  

The UniPhyer makes it possible to have a separate physical connection for voice and data at a fraction of the cost, and without any business or network disruptions.

Technological benefits like easier and more cost-efficient back-up power management and dependable voice quality, means businesses can have a guaranteed infrastructure in place.

 

In addition to these benefits, the UniPhyer also has a reach of more than 1,200-feet and can support the longer reach of a point-to-point topology.

 

With the UniPhyer, not only is the 300 foot Ethernet limitation of a data switch not a concern, but overall port utilization is also more efficient.

 

Related to this benefit, is the fact that the UniPhyer is also highly secure. Port isolation features isolate voice data access to each end point while Mac address isolation is also offered for IP devices with specific Mac addresses working on designated ports.

 

When Holy Cross Lutheran Church wanted to upgrade its telephony system in their church and two adjacent school buildings, but didn’t want to take on the expenses and disruptions associated with changing the cabling and data switches for both buildings, they turned to Phybridge and centrally located the UniPhyer in just one building.

 

At a reach of more than 1,200-feet, the UniPhyer provided service to all IP phones in the remaining two buildings coupled with the IP phones off of the existing data switch.
