Communications hardware and software provider Aculab (News - Alert) announced on Friday the release of Prosody X PCIe, an extension of the Prosody X product line geared towards the SME VoIP market.
According to the company’s release, Prosody X PCIe provides connectivity, media processing and call control feature sets for both VoIP and PSTN environments, offering optional 1 to 4 E1/T1 trunks while supporting up to 300 simultaneous voice channels, making Prosody X PCIe as ideal choice for SMEs.
The Prosody X product line has helped solution providers offer a mix of capabilities required to meet the changing needs of the communications market. Recently, Touchstone (News - Alert) Technologies Inc. incorporated Aculab’s Prosody X into its next generation testing solution, citing rich features set, scalable density, delivering the best value to Touchstone’s customers.
Aculab also released Prosody X CompactPCI (News - Alert), a highly configurable IP media processing platform in early August.

Prosody X PCIe will be available in eight variants, allowing a selection of ‘fit for purpose’ combinations of media processing DSPs and TDM trunks for every particular application.
On Wednesday, October 11, 2006, Faye McClenahan, head of strategic marketing for Aculab will be presenting a session titled “Examining Host Media Processing” at INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West. Those attending the session will learn about the different approaches for designing voice applications that leverage host-based processing.
