call recording specialist CTI Group (News - Alert) announced Tuesday its acquisition of electronic and online billing services company Ryder Systems Ltd. CTI
purchased the U.K.-based company for approximately $11 million.
CTI Group’s Chief Technology Officer, Sid Rao, told TMCnet that the customer base of Ryder—which provides billing services to telecom service providers, primarily in the mobile phone market—includes T-Mobile (News - Alert), Verizon, Vodafone and Orange.
“We’ve acquired some enabling wireless technology, and increased our European presence,” Rao said of the deal.
Ryder’s primary focus is on helping its clients save money and retain customers. The company’s products—used by more than 10,000 enterprises including most of the Times 100 companies—are available on a hosted, licensed or managed basis, using a recurring license business model.
CTI Group’s chairman, president and CEO, John Birbeck, said that the addition of Ryder will enable both companies to leverage maximum opportunities in both the U.S. and European markets.
“This is a compelling strategic transaction that we expect will provide significant synergies between both companies and affords growth opportunities for our customers and shareholders,” Birbeck said in a statement.
He continued: “Our SmartBill electronic bill management systems are successful in the USA in the fixed-line market, whilst Ryder's products are thriving in Europe in the mobile phone market.”
Ryder vice president of sales and marketing Andrew Wilson added that the two companies share a common goal of dominating the telecom business electronic bill management market.
“Our combined strength in this market in addition to CTI's new developments in the expanding VoIP applications market allows us to enhance our offerings to our global service provider customer base,” Wilson said in a statement.
