Plingm, a Swedish mobile VoIP-app previously known as Freephoo, is now available in the App Store in Micronesia. Using the app, a large number of smartphone users in Micronesia will now be able to make low-cost and free calls to any location across the globe.
Micronesians, using the Plingm app over a traditional mobile operator, will benefit from substantial cost savings on both domestic and international calls. Users of smartphones opting to download the Plingm app will be able to place mobile calls to each other free of charge while also benefiting from low cost calls to other numbers.
In a release, Pandelis Eliopoulos, Plingm co-founder, said that, "Mobile VoIP is the future way of making phone calls. With Plingm, the growing number of smartphone users in Micronesia can start making free calls to friends around the world.”
Plingm mergers both the old and new capabilities of mobile calling - Internet (Wi-Fi or 3G) services which are free, are used to connect Plingm to Plingm calls. The inclusion of the add-on service Plingm Out, allow calls to be cost-effectively rerouted from the Internet to a traditional network, which can actually bring a reduction of up to 90 percent on international calls. Furthermore, Plingm can be used for placing free calls to both Facebook (News - Alert) and LinkedIn contacts and connections.
The App Store rating for Plingm is an impressive 4.7 out of five, based on its cost advantages, high sound quality, and user-friendly usage. The user of the app does not require a username, as a regular mobile number is used for both calling and receiving of calls. Plingm has been named as the number one App Store social app in 13 countries.
The Asia-Pacific region currently has the highest mobile penetration in the world and has a rapidly expanding smartphone market. A growing number of customers in the region are opting for a smartphone over a computer for connecting to the Internet.
