The cloud era is illustrating a time of great change. Innovation in optical technology and AI is taking the network in a more adaptive direction, as the cloud provides the medium to deliver the critical applications businesses require. At ITEXPO (News - Alert) 2018, Windstream unveiled new branding and continues to capitalize as a service provider in the cloud era.

This week, Windstream Enterprise (News - Alert) (WE), announced its cloud-based unified communications solutions supports more than 500,000 seats. The milestone represents a laser-like focus on developing and supporting enterprise-class xCaaS services.

UCaaS is gaining momentum, and the WE portfolio provides a number cloud-based communications solutions seeing success. The 500,000 count includes total seats of OfficeSuite UC, Avaya (News - Alert), Mitel, and Hospitality VPBX as well as xCaaS.

Speaking of the cloud, WE also touts the Cloud Connect and SD-WAN Concierge solutions as well as contact center and Wi-Fi services, which are joined by a number of future forward optical networking and Ethernet services. One could say WE is angling to be a one-stop cloud shop.

“Businesses are recognizing the economic benefits of moving communications to the cloud, as well as gaining visibility, control and speed of delivery through client portals and apps,” said Layne Levine, president of Windstream Enterprise & Wholesale. “UCaaS/CCaaS can be scaled to meet the needs of small to enterprise-size businesses with a focus on compliance-driven verticals like healthcare, retail and financial services via our secure and encrypted solutions.”

The cloud is no longer an unexplored or mysterious frontier. It is one of the driving forces of digital transformation, enabling business modernization efforts and opening the door to a new age in networking and communications.
